THE LORD’S DAY

BIBLE SENTENCE & PRAYER: Susan Colts, Elder

PRELUDE: “On Eagles Wind/Be Thou My Vision,”                       arr. Tornquist
Musician today: Barbara Jayne, pianist
PLEASE NOTE: This music provides an opportunity for us to meditate, prepare our hearts, and reverently worship God the Father, the Son, & the Holy Spirit.

CALL TO WORSHIP: Susan Colts

“O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth! You have set Your glory above the heavens.” “The heavens declare the glory of God.”      (Psalm 8:1 & Psalm 19:1)
Sing, O heavens, for the Lord has done it; shout, O depths of the earth; break forth into singing, O mountains, O forest, and every tree in it! For the Lord has redeemed Jacob, and will be glorified in Israel.”     (Isaiah 44:23)
“Then the Lord said, ‘…But truly, as I live, and as all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the Lord…’”                (Numbers 14:2-21)
“Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of Your name; deliver us … for Your name’s sake!”       (Psalm 79:9)
“For all the promises of God find their Yes in Jesus Christ. That is why it is through Him that we utter our Amen to God for His glory.”  (2 Cor. 1:20)
“May the glory of the Lord endure forever; may the Lord rejoice in His works.” (Psalm 104:31)

SONG OF PRAISE: “O Worship the King”

1 O worship the King all-glorious above,
O gratefully sing his power and his love:
our shield and defender, the Ancient of Days,
pavilioned in splendor and girded with praise.
2 O tell of his might and sing of his grace,
whose robe is the light, whose canopy space.
His chariots of wrath the deep thunderclouds form,
and dark is his path on the wings of the storm.
3 Your bountiful care, what tongue can recite?
It breathes in the air, it shines in the light;
it streams from the hills, it descends to the plain,
and sweetly distills in the dew and the rain.
4 Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail,
in you do we trust, nor find you to fail.
Your mercies, how tender, how firm to the end,
our Maker, Defender, Redeemer, and Friend!
5 O measureless Might, unchangeable Love,
whom angels delight to worship above!
Your ransomed creation, with glory ablaze,
in true adoration shall sing to your praise!

INVOCATION: In Unison

Most holy and exalted God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; we gather to worship and give You the praise that You so richly deserve. Come to us, and make Yourself manifest in our midst. Grant us the sense of Your presence. Strengthen us that we may see You with eyes of faith and hear You speaking through Your Word. Fill our hearts with Your joy that we delight in You above all else. We ask it to the glory of Your name. Amen.

HYMN OF WORSHIP: “God of Grace and God of Glory”

1 God of grace and God of glory,
on your people pour your power;
crown your ancient church’s story,
bring its bud to glorious flower.
Grant us wisdom, grant us courage
for the facing of this hour,
for the facing of this hour.
2 Lo! the hosts of evil round us
scorn the Christ, assail his ways!
From the fears that long have bound us
free our hearts to faith and praise.
Grant us wisdom, grant us courage
for the living of these days,
for the living of these days.
3 Cure your children’s warring madness;
bend our pride to your control;
shame our wanton, selfish gladness,
rich in things and poor in soul.
Grant us wisdom, grant us courage,
lest we miss your kingdom’s goal,
lest we miss your kingdom’s goal.
4 Save us from weak resignation
to the evils we deplore;
let the gift of your salvation
be our glory evermore.
Grant us wisdom, grant us courage,
serving you whom we adore,
serving you whom we adore.

CONFESSING OUR SIN TOGETHER: In Unison

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your steadfast love; according to Your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin! For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. Against You, You only, have I sinned and done what is evil in Your sight. Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Please the next few moments for quiet reflection and confession of sins to God.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON:

Our Lord says, “Remember these things, O Jacob, and Israel, for you are My servant; I formed you; you are My servant; O Israel, you will not be forsaken by Me. I have blotted out your transgressions like a cloud and your sins like mist; return to Me, for I have redeemed you.”

OFFERING OF OUR GIFTS TO GOD FOR RPC MINISTRY & MISSION

Offertory: “There is a Fountain,”                                                          arr. Hayes
Tithes can be sent to: RPC, PO Box 247, Roslyn, WA 98941

DOXOLOGY:

Praise God from whom all blessings flow
Praise Him all creatures here below
Praise Him above ye heavenly hosts
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost

HYMN OF ADORATION: “O God, Our Help in Ages Past”

1 Our God, our help in ages past,
our hope for years to come,
our shelter from the stormy blast,
and our eternal home:
2 Under the shadow of your throne
your saints have dwelt secure;
sufficient is your arm alone,
and our defense is sure.
3 Before the hills in order stood,
or earth received her frame,
from everlasting you are God,
to endless years the same.
4 A thousand ages in your sight
are like an evening gone;
short as the watch that ends the night
before the rising sun.
5 The busy tribes of flesh and blood,
with all their lives and cares,
are carried downward by your flood,
and lost in foll’wing years.
6 Time, like an ever-rolling stream,
bears all its sons away;
they fly forgotten, as a dream
dies at the op’ning day.
7 Our God, our help in ages past,
our hope for years to come:
O be our guard while troubles last,
and our eternal home.

THE WORD SPEAKS TO OUR LIVES: Ron Berschauer, Ruling Elder, Today’s Speaker

CLOSING SONG: “Savior, like a Shepherd Lead Us”

1 Savior, like a shepherd lead us,
Much we need Thy tender care;
In Thy pleasant pastures feed us,
For our use Thy folds prepare:
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus,
Thou hast bought us, Thine we are;
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus,
Thou hast bought us, Thine we are.

2 We are Thine, do Thou befriend us,
Be the guardian of our way;
Keep Thy flock, from sin defend us,
Seek us when we go astray:
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus,
Hear, O hear us when we pray;
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus,
Hear, O hear us when we pray.

3 Thou hast promised to receive us,
Poor and sinful though we be;
Thou hast mercy to relieve us,
Grace to cleanse, and pow’r to free:
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus,
Early let us turn to Thee;
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus,
Early let us turn to Thee.

4 Early let us seek Thy favor,
Early let us do Thy will;
Blessed Lord and only Savior,
With Thy love our bosoms fill:
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus,
Thou hast loved us, love us still;
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus,
Thou hast loved us, love us still.
